The creative process
I join my paintings with apparently non related illustrations. After a feeling of synergy the two are digitally combined. From that point the result is further manipulated. This process can take months and leads to a new and contemporary piece of art in digital form. The method is highly intuitive, contains many streams of split second decisions and is thereby unique. Sometimes a part is to be painted again and digitally inserted later on.
The outcome is a once only image which cannot be created by painting or photography.
I find it hard to categorize my digital art. It has aspects of surrealism, fantasy art, space art and magic realism. My inspiration comes from art as well as science. I have affinity with artists such as Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Paul Delvaux, Carel Willink, Pyke Koch, Johfra, Jozef Rulof and Alphons Mucha. Carl Gustav Jung (archetypes, the subconscious and especially synchronicity) is very helpful for me in understanding the end result.
